Rock-N-Roll Ice Cream
Celebrate Dairy Month by making your own ice cream in a fun, unique way!
You'll need duct tape, one large can and one small can with lids (coffee cans work well).
Makes 8 servings
Prep time: 15 minutes
Rock-N-Roll time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup whipping cream
2 trays of ice
½ cup sugar
Rock salt
1. Child measures milk, cream, sugar and vanilla extract and pour each ingredient into the small sized can.
2. Cover the can with lid and tape shut with duct tape. Tape the can again until tightly sealed.
3. Child shakes the can to mix all the ingredients.
4. Adult puts a layer of ice and rock salt in the large can.
5. Child places the small can into the large can.
6. Adult layers with more ice and rock salt. Cover can and tape very well.
7. Child and parent kick or roll the can back and forth for about 10 minutes.
8. Child removes the small can and parent scrapes ice cream away from the side of the can.
9. Child puts the small can back into the large can. Adult layers with more ice and rock salt. Retape and seal tightly (use extra tape as the original tape will be wet.
10. Child and adult kick or roll the can back and forth for about 5 minutes. Stir, Serve, Enjoy!
