Funds for Physical Activity

Fuel Up To Play 60 Funding can be used to support long-term changes that improve the school's wellness environment. This includes creating new and innovative ways that students can be active before, during or after school. Here are some Plays (ideas) from our Playbook!

School-Wide Walk It! Club
Organize a walking club to get students to make walking a part of their daily routine. 

Use Funds to pay for:
- Pedometers/Materials for tracking walking and progress
- Signage/materials to identify the entrance and/or path of the walking route
- Materials for recruiting club members and publicizing accomplishments

Create Your Own Fitness Center
Work with school leaders to find a classroom or space that is not being used, and create a fitness center that can be used by students and teachers before, during and after school.

Use Funds to pay for:
- Exercise equipment, such as a treadmill, weights and mats, heart rate monitors, Exercise DVDs, etc.
- A personal trainer to staff the fitness center once a month – or a P.E. teacher for more regular staffing
- Materials for promoting the fitness center

In-Class Physical Activity Breaks
Encourage students to stay active by sneaking in short physical activity breaks during the school day.

Use Funds to pay for:
- Equipment, such as exercise bands, balls or weights, exercise DVDs
- Incentives or rewards for participation
- Materials to promote accomplishments

NFL Flag Football
Start an official NFL Flag Football league in your community.

Use Funds to pay for:
- Equipment, including footballs, flags and cones, uniforms
- Coaching staff time
- Recruitment of students and promotion of Fuel Up to Play 60
